The Bluffton of Tomorrow

It’s not new Bluffton and old Bluffton. We’re one Bluffton and I want to keep that. It’s part of the reason that I’m doing this, because I love this town so much and I want us to continue to be one.

Purposeful Growth

With our town growing so quickly I feel that we need to slow down on new residential developments to give us time to make necessary adjustments and improvements to our infrastructure. I agree with the Town’s recent focus of incentivizing essential service businesses to open west of Buckwalter, where the majority of our residents now live.

Affordable Living

I would like to work with Town leaders to come up with actions the Town can take in working with developers to better increase affordable housing options and streamline the process to make it more efficient.

Protecting Our Environment

Our environment, including the May River, needs to continue to be a focus. Implementing a plan to provide all Town residents access to sewer was a great start. The Town needs to continue to work alongside the County to bring sewer to residents in unincorporated areas along and near the May River. This is a crucially important next step.

Safety and Freedom

Chief Babkiewicz has done an excellent job in his leadership role with the Police Department. The Town needs to stay focused on providing funding that will afford the department additional growth and manpower in order to increase patrol on the roads. We have seen a tremendous increase in accidents coinciding with the population growth in recent years and the safety of our residents must remain a top priority.

Most of us will agree that at certain hours our traffic has become an issue in need of addressing. I would like to work with County and State leaders to figure out solutions for this predicament, aside from just limiting further new development and increasing patrol of our roadways. While both of these will help considerably, we need a long term solution that likely results in improvements to existing infrastructure.

Rooted in the past. Rejoicing in the present. Looking forward to the future.
